Blockchain gaming has huge potential, but there is a problem… in its current state, it is not fit for mass adoption. Current blockchain games are too expensive to start, too complex to start, unfair, and unsustainable. On top of that, most of them are not fun to play. Cryptopia solves these problems and built a fun game that is free-to-play-and-earn!

Cryptopia makes onboarding intuitive and easy by abstracting away the blockchain. The game is built on top of a multi-sig wallet. This means that players do not need an external wallet (like MetaMask or TrustWallet). They create a game account (just like any traditional game) and get a wallet with that. It also means that players do not leave the game environment when interacting with the blockchain. Everything is done from the game UI, making it a seamless experience. In addition, a multi-sig wallet is the safest and most secure wallet available. This helps newbies to crypto feel safe and secure.

Our game is free-to-play-and-earn. You don't need to buy an NFT in order to play and earn. Just create an account and start playing. Try the game and see for yourself if this is something for you. Combined with the easy sign-up, we have the prerequisites in place for easy onboarding. The barrier to entry is extremely low.

Cryptopia is fair. Web3 is all about owning digital (game) items, which is fantastic. But these items can be rendered useless overnight without player consent. This is something that is completely overlooked. Nobody worries about the continuity of how you can use these items. We do. Unlike any other game, we are 100% decentralized, running on chain and on our peer-to-peer network. We have no central servers. This ensures that ownership of game items is safeguarded by community governance of utility. No change of rules without community consent. (See Gala Games or DeFi Kingdom for why this is extremely important)

Cryptopia is also fair from an economic standpoint. We allow everyone to play and earn. We aim for people that have the means and want to spend. At the same time, we also aim for people who don't have the means or don't want to spend (again, very important for web2 gamers who want to test the blockchain waters). We have two playstyles that cater to each group and, very unique, complement each other. The Tycoon playstyle is about investing in land, resources, facilities, etc. The Adventurer playstyle is about exploring, questing, and leveling up your avatar. Although Tycoons may own the assets, Adventurers hold the key to making these assets productive. When you want to build or produce, you need labor. There is only one source of labor. It has to be provided by other players: Tycoons recruit Adventurers and pay for their services.

It is important to understand that there is no pay-to-win, only "pay-to-progress." Just like regular games with an item shop: if you have the means, you can make it easier for yourself. But, unlike regular games, when players pay in Cryptopia (for convenience or power-ups), their money does not end up with the game publisher. Their money goes to other players. In short, when Tycoons pay, other players earn, so they too can progress.

The peer-to-peer mechanism of Tycoons and Adventurers makes Cryptopia sustainable. Wealth is redistributed, and time spent in the game is rewarded. This system also stimulates players to stay in the game: by spending more time to level up (and become more attractive as a worker/specialist) or by spending the earned rewards to make it easier to level up (better ships, better tools, etc.) In other words, instead of extracting value from Cryptopia, they are stimulated to keep adding value to Cryptopia.

In addition, the game generates rewards for future players. All resources that are used for building, producing, crafting, upgrading, and repairing are saved in a treasury (in a web2 game, these resources are simply removed from the game). Rewards for new players come from this treasury. Lastly, there are gameplay elements that generate rewards. For instance, when a pirate loots another player, part of the loot will drop into the ocean and becomes a treasure. This treasure is a future quest reward for other players.

We think Cryptopia is fun to play. Of course, this is up to the players to judge. By building a game with rich gameplay, we believe many players will agree!

# Play-for-fun comes first

Blockchain gaming took off fast at the end of 2021 and continued to grow in 2022. This rise in popularity surfaced some design flaws in the blockchain game genre. The most notable ones are play-to-earn (P2E) games that are not fun to play and the fact that [not everyone can earn](broken://pages/AZ0zGq4BIMDj6KnJRPzM).

If your game isn't fun, nobody will play. However, the Introduction of the earn component changed this: people will still play a game that isn't fun. But not for long. When the monetary return does not match the player's expectation, there is no reason to stay. Players will extract the value that is left and move on. Managing the [value stream](/mission-and-vision/sustainable-economy) becomes essential.

Cryptopia puts fun first. We want to create a game that is fun to play and has actual gameplay. Our game is full of fun activities. Activities that contribute to the progression of your character. You can play as you want: be a [Tycoon](/gameplay/tycoon) and own supply chains, go the RPG route and go for quests and jobs as an [Adventurer](/gameplay/adventurer), loot other players as a [Pirate](/gameplay/pirates), or restore order as [Bounty Hunter](/gameplay/bounty-hunters).&#x20;

On top of this, we have a [compelling story](/cryptopia-story/second-satoshi-whitepaper). You are needed and play a role in a greater narrative!

# Free-to-play-and-earn

Many blockchain games are [not fun to play](broken://pages/v3t3hLVxflLJw6YaPC4J). In addition, many blockchain games are unfair: not everyone can earn.

The majority of the games require you to invest in NFTs upfront. When prices are relatively low, this is no problem except for countries with a lower income level. These may have access difficulties right from the bat. When a game attracts more players and demand for NFTs rises, prices spiral out of control.

<figure><img src="/files/8eI9WJbH1gvH4Kjf55fg" alt=""><figcaption><p>Town Star expected ROI: break even after 420 days, if token price does not fall.... (Feb 2022)</p></figcaption></figure>

As long as you are not the last one entering and can sell your NFTs, you are 'safe.' However, you can see how this resembles a Ponzi scheme. If no new players enter, the last buyers are screwed. While not all startups designed this on purpose, it is clear that the earn component is not for everyone.

Cryptopia believes in the concept of free. We are free-to-play and, more importantly, free-to-earn. Whether you are an early adopter or a late mover, our game is designed so that you can always earn. Also, when you live in an area with a lower income level, our game is still accessible to you.

We do this by simply allowing gamers to earn without investing upfront. Just download the game and start playing. There are many ways to earn [TOS](/tokenomics/what-is-cryptos-tos) (Cryptos). Finishing quests will reward you with TOS. Doing jobs for other players gets you TOS. You can collect resources like wood and stone and sell these for TOS. You can capture animals and breed better versions and earn TOS. Or, you can stake your TOS.

#### Ready to try?

After you have spent some time with us, we hope that our game is made for you. If not, no problem! We know it is impossible to be a game that everybody will like. But if you do like what we build, if you do like our intentions, you can decide to get invested more. You can spend more time leveling your character and increasing your potential by re-investing your rewards. Or, you can decide to purchase game items. Or do both.

We genuinely believe people will love it if you build something special. We believe we cracked the [sustainability code](/mission-and-vision/sustainable-economy). This is why we dare to be free-play-and-earn: we believe in our game! If you want to know more about this, make sure to watch this video:

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/V_OznWV4cQI>" %}

# Blockchain games are complex

Blockchain games are complex. Especially for gamers that are new to crypto. They need to create a wallet, acquire crypto, and, most likely, [buy an NFT](/mission-and-vision/free-to-play-and-earn). There are many drop-off points, which raises the barrier to starting with blockchain games.

Cryptopia makes onboarding intuitive and easy by abstracting away the blockchain. The game is built on top of a [multisig wallet](/tech-stack/multisig-wallet). This means that players do not need an external wallet (like MetaMask or TrustWallet). They create a game account (just like any traditional game) and get a wallet with that. It also means players do not leave the game environment when interacting with the blockchain. Everything is done from the game UI, making it a seamless experience. In addition, a multisig wallet is the safest and most secure wallet available. This helps newbies to crypto feel safe and secure.

Having our own wallet makes it possible to pre-fund accounts of non-crypto users. We sell our game for 1 USD and give 1 USD worth of gas back. This way, new users do not have to go to an exchange and buy crypto. They just download our game, create an account, and are ready to go!

# 100% decentralized

Not many games are fully decentralized, let alone on the blockchain. Most games have the assets on chain, but the rest of the game resides on central servers.

This has far-reaching consequences for the ownership of game items. Yes, gamers own the items (NFTs), but the game publisher decides if and how you can use these!

Cryptopia is 100% decentralized without central servers. The complete game state is on the blockchain. Less critical processes are handled peer-to-peer via [meshes](/tech-stack/p2p-mesh-network).

There is no central authority that can change the rules around ownership of game items. Also, Crytopia is not vulnerable to DDOS attacks, does not have downtime, and is ready to be governed by its community in a DAO structure. There is no organization or authority that can take Cryptopia offline!

# Sustainable economy

A blockchain game will have a good chance of becoming successful if it is [fun to play](/mission-and-vision/play-for-fun-comes-first), [free-to-play-and-earn](/mission-and-vision/free-to-play-and-earn), and [easy to start](/mission-and-vision/blockchain-games-are-complex). However, this is no guarantee that it will succeed. To increase the odds of success dramatically, a game also needs to have a solid in-game economy.

An in-game economy is a system that manages resource distribution, acquisition, and spending. Resources like gold, time, energy, ammunition, and so on. The rate at which these resources can be acquired and spent determines the player's progression speed. A balance is delicate: you don't want players to get to the end game content too fast, but you also don't want to discourage players by slowing them down too much.

The most valuable resource in any game is time. In traditional games (buy the game, no subscriptions, no in-game purchases), you need to invest time in playing and leveling up your skills and items. There are no shortcuts. But, with the introduction of in-game purchases (free-to-play and freemium model), spending money could save time.

This alters the way games need to be designed. Allowing too much advantage by spending breaks your game: gamers want to be competitive and want to be challenged. If you can simply buy your way to the top (or whatever you want to achieve), players lose interest: it is unfair (pay-to-win) and not fun (no challenges).

Cryptopia's unique game design allows players to manage their time as they see fit. A player can do [quests and jobs](/mission-and-vision/free-to-play-and-earn) to earn TOS (Cryptos) and use this TOS to buy game items. Or a player can buy the TOS with real money and then buy the game items. Gamers choose whatever way fits best with their circumstances, preferences, and mood ("No time tonight to quest, but I want to level this building").

When allowing players to buy shortcuts, it is essential to limit pay-to-win. In Cryptopia, the metagame is about building facilities that generate wealth for you and your faction. The construction of these facilities requires your time and other players' time. You can influence your time to a certain extent (buy shortcuts), but you cannot influence other players' time. This is the balancing factor for time, preventing complete pay-to-win.

Blockchain games add another dimension. The closed game economies are opened up: gamers can sell their items for real money and spend this outside the game. This is often one of the criticisms of play-to-earn games: you cannot sustain this model. The reasoning is that players withdraw value from the game (cash out) and leave the game’s treasury empty.

This is true for games that have no or very lackluster gameplay. Gamers lose interest, cash out and leave. The first generations of play-to-earn games experienced this cycle. At first, people were drawn by the monetary prospects, but when the required investment in NFTs became too expensive (and the ROI too low or unsure), there was no reason to play anymore.

Managing value streams is essential in blockchain games. A game needs to manage value addition and value extraction. At the end of the day, more value needs to be added than extracted. Value can only be added if you have a game worth people’s time…

So, what makes Cryptopia sustainable?&#x20;

We offer gameplay that ensures stickiness: players will keep coming back. We reward time spent in the game. When you are an active player, you add value to the game. Even if you do not purchase, you still add value: you provide services to other players so that they can progress. When a player is active and playing (questing, exploring, building, socializing), this player adds value to the ecosystem and to the experience of other players. This player contributes to a lively game.

The purchasing player and the ‘free’ player need each other to progress in the game. And very importantly: they do so without exploiting each other. We have a non-zero-sum game: the gain of players is not at the expense of other players.

When a player wants to save time (‘buy a shortcut’), there is a transfer of wealth to a player who does want to spend time. Take the example of crafting. A player that spends time leveling up his/her crafting skills sells items to a player that does not want to spend time learning and leveling crafting. Both players win: the buyer can save time, and the seller earns.

The economy is circular. Whenever resources are spent to craft or create, these resources flow back into the game treasury. Quest rewards for future players are sourced from this treasury. As long as gamers play Cryptopia, future rewards for new players are generated.

We have a player-generated quest system. In addition to the quests related to building and producing (Tycoons recruit other players), players also generate quests when engaging in PvP. When you successfully loot another player’s ship, part of the loot sinks into the ocean and becomes a treasure. This treasure forms a reward for treasure hunt quests.

Cryptopia is sustainable because it combines a very low barrier to entry, engaging gameplay, fair rewards systems, and a non-zero-sum leveling environment where all players benefit, regardless of winning or losing. \

# Second Satoshi whitepaper?

<figure><img src="/files/NLxTfa50aKv2WIf6VEeI" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## The Lost White Paper

Once, the world operated under a stable monetary system backed by gold. However, in 1971, President Nixon abandoned the gold standard, leading to the rise of the fiat currency. This system, based on trust, allowed governments to manipulate currency values for political and economic gain. However, the inherent weaknesses of this fiat system make it vulnerable to economic collapse.

One looming threat that could trigger such a collapse is climate change. The rise in temperature caused by greenhouse gases leads to melting polar ice caps, rising sea levels, and ocean acidification. This catastrophic outcome will surpass the Great Depression, causing destruction in coastal areas, loss of arable land, and hunger. Asian countries, with 80% of the population at risk, will face severe flooding and economic losses. Additionally, governments' lack of transparency and pursuit of their own agendas exacerbate the climate crisis.

The Kyoto Protocol, aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, failed to achieve significant results as countries like Canada, Russia, Japan, and the United States either withdrew or refused to ratify it. Without enforcement mechanisms and transparent, accountable governments, future agreements to combat climate change will likely fall short of their targets. True success can only be achieved by holding governments accountable and ensuring transparency.

The challenges we face demand more than policy tweaks or new agreements. Without enforcement and transparency, future climate accords may falter. To avoid dire consequences, a radical solution founded on a new system that values security, transparency, and trust in governance and commerce is required; a restart of society.&#x20;

# Restart of society

The proposed solution of a societal reboot lies in utilizing two cutting-edge technologies to facilitate this transformative change: *blockchain* and *cryptocurrency*.&#x20;

Blockchain and cryptocurrencies emerge as a ray of hope in the face of crisis. Blockchain, the foundation of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, brings unique advantages. It offers secure and immutable transactions, safeguarding our digital realm. Moreover, its durability ensures the longevity of cryptocurrencies, immune to loss or counterfeiting. The transparency of blockchain allows for auditability and validation, making tampering nearly impossible. This versatile technology extends beyond finance—and into logistics, healthcare, real estate, and voting, to name a few. Decentralized by design, blockchain minimizes manipulation and places power in the hands of many.

As the world embraces this innovative approach to governance and commerce, a city-state stands as a tangible embodiment of the power of decentralization: Cryptopia.&#x20;

Enter Cryptopia, a city-state free from foreign influence and devoid of traditional currencies. Rumors of its existence began to spread, bringing a long-awaited realization for reformers exhausted with centralized systems—as if their dreams had finally materialized.&#x20;

Cryptopia's independence from foreign influence and the absence of traditional currencies was poised to fulfill all the necessary requirements for a city-state. It would define and maintain its borders, establish a decentralized government, foster a permanent population, and forge relations with other nations.

Amongst these reformers, was a group of prominent civic and industry leaders, and a consensus swiftly emerged between them: to establish a nation built entirely on the blockchain, liberated from the burdensome influence of governments and central banks. This bold vision sought to forge a realm where citizens could live in freedom, find solace in security, flourish in economic prosperity, and seize the chance to shape their own futures.

In the beginning, only a handful of brave pioneers were willing to embark on this transformative journey toward a self-governed existence. As Cryptopia began to flourish, attracting attention far and wide, more and more people gained confidence and flocked to this thriving city-state eager to embrace it as their new home.&#x20;

However, one aspect that blockchain fails to change is human nature. As time passed, divergences in the vision of Cryptopia began to surface.

# Rise of the factions

Different interpretations of the new society emerged among the citizens of Cryptopia. These contrasting agendas ultimately led to the rise of four factions, each driven by unique aspirations: Tech, Traditional, Industrial, and Eco.

*The Industrial faction viewed it as a means to amass great wealth, while the Eco faction saw it as an opportunity for environmental preservation. The Tech faction advocated for technology-based policies, while the Traditional faction insisted on decisions made through consensus.*&#x20;

*Cryptopia owes its existence to the Technocrats, who led the way in constructing its digital infrastructure, internet backbone, and DeFi networks. Their visionary leadership, led by Sam Clark as the advisor of the Tech faction, turned Cryptopia into a technological marvel. With unwavering dedication, the Technocrats propelled Cryptopia into a future where advanced technology permeates every aspect of life.*

*Jane Brown, elected to lead the Unifiers in Cryptopia, initiates various programs to promote citizen welfare. They prioritize free education for all, ensuring knowledge of rights and respect for others. The Unifiers improve voting systems, support workers' unions, advocate for renewable energy, protect citizens' rights, and prevent job loss due to automation.*

*Led by Peter Nolan, the Inheritors strive to create a business-friendly environment with minimal barriers and equal opportunities for all. They envision Cryptopia as the ideal place for groundbreaking ventures, unrestricted by traditional laws and customs. Their goal is to maximize profits, minimize costs, and empower individuals for successful businesses. They advocate for the freedom to utilize Earth's resources as needed.*

*Under the leadership of John Smith, the Earth's Disciples are dedicated to turning their environmental protection vision into a reality. Their goals include implementing clean energy sources, removing greenhouse gases, and constructing an economy centered around sustainability. They strongly oppose environmentally hazardous practices, particularly those involving fossil fuels, and incrementally profit from clean energy sources.*

# Factions

## RISE OF THE FACTIONS

Not everyone interpreted the new society the same way. Some believed Cryptopia was meant to create fantastic wealth, while others saw an opportunity to start fresh and save the environment.

Still others believed that essential policies should be based on technology, while others argued they should be made with the people’s consensus. Inevitably, these disparate agendas splintered the citizens into four Factions. Each group appointed a member to serve as the “face” of their faction, who would speak on their behalf and mentor new members.

<figure><img src="/files/Bi37m4IF094v5RyPLjc8" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## GAMEPLAY

Choose between two strategies: Tycoons generate income from a business while Adventurers strive to be highly-skilled professionals. Two sub-factions (Pirates & Bounty Hunters) add a PvP element involving stealing and recovering loot.

# Tech

<figure><img src="/files/RIMzvzXcaw9rf0XDkJty" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Vision/Belief

Wouldn't it be amazing if we could live in a world where everyone's primary objective is to enhance the quality of life through the utilization of technological advancements? Well, that's precisely what the Tech faction aspires to accomplish.

The Technocrats, founded by Sam Clark, have the most futuristic and analytical perspective of Cryptopia. Sam Clark is the genius behind the technology powering Cryptopia. Sam started like any child curious about technology, by getting into robotics and coding. He teamed up with like-minded individuals to establish the Technocrats, a group of young inventors innovating everyday life through technology and scientific experimentation. They seek to create an expert population, who develop self-sustaining industries that will generate economic growth and prosperity.

The Tech faction has a clear objective: to continuously enhance the quality of life for everyone through innovation and automation. Achieving such dreams is no easy feat, and it comes with a considerable cost, but the Technocrats possess unwavering confidence in their ability to transform their ideas into reality.

Their vision entails a future where life is characterized by reduced labor intensity and an overall elevated living standard. To attain this, they advocate for a population consisting of a limited number of experts who share aligned perspectives. The Tech faction remains consistently updated with the latest technologies and harnesses these advancements to pursue their goals.

One significant breakthrough the Technocrats have made is in the realm of gene-altering technology, which they believe will aid them in achieving their ultimate objective. This technology enables the modification of individuals' fertility, transitioning them from being fertile to infertile, and vice versa—a tool that the Tech faction plans to utilize.

In order to realize their overarching goal of cultivating a select group of highly qualified and productive members of society, the initial approach involves rendering everyone infertile. Should individuals wish to have offspring, they will undergo a comprehensive assessment based on factors such as intellect, accomplishments, and child-rearing abilities. This evaluation ensures that the offspring will be happy and healthy, and contribute to the faction's goals. The decision regarding their ability to have children will be made by an AI.

The gene-altering approach has the potential to address significant issues in society. For instance, it prevents unqualified individuals from voting for incompetent leaders and can also serve as a preventive measure against poverty.

## Opposition: Traditional Faction

The Traditional faction seeks to retain the largest population in order to influence policy for the masses, but the Tech faction holds a different viewpoint. They argue that a larger population brings about several issues, including increased unemployment and strain on the infrastructure necessary to support housing, transportation, healthcare, and education.

## Gameplay Factor

The universal population is the factor that will affect the Tech faction’s gameplay. The Tech faction wants to keep the population level low. The population level doesn’t derive from the number of players at a given time, it rather refers to the total population score of all buildings. Each building will receive a population score, and buildings from the Tech faction contribute to lowering the population score. So the more buildings created by the Tech faction, the lower the population level.&#x20;

## Voting

Technocrats will need to reach Level 5 in order to gain the right to vote. As you play the game, you will earn XP, and this can be used to level up. The more you level up, the more voting power you have.&#x20;

## Summary

In summary, the Tech Faction aims to elevate the quality of life through a dedicated focus on scientific and technological advancements. This approach will cultivate a more capable population united by shared objectives and accelerate the progress of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. If you embrace these ideals, we welcome you to join the Tech Faction and anticipate an enlightened future ahead. Cheers to the journey towards a brighter tomorrow!<br>

# Traditional

<figure><img src="/files/5GXAvkn62OT0pkbwmrRK" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Vision/Belief

Envision a world where society is structured to ensure equal opportunities and rights for all, fostering an environment where everyone can flourish, thrive, and persist until the end. The Traditional faction identifies as Democratic Capitalists, aiming to achieve a perfect democracy while keeping profits in mind.

Led by Jane Brown, the Unifiers possess the ideal combination of qualities to shape Cryptopia into a blockchain utopia. Jane Brown exemplifies both compassion and outspokenness, always ready to extend a helping hand. Simultaneously, she demonstrates a cutthroat approach in her investigations, precise knowledge of the law, and formidable expertise. The Unifiers, known for their diplomatic and amiable nature, prioritize nurturing positive relationships and fostering mutual respect. Embracing inclusivity, they welcome all individuals without discrimination, considering it vital for constructing their envisioned perfect world. Due to their diplomatic tendencies, they hold a neutral and equal stance towards various philosophies.

The primary objective of the Unifiers is to establish a society dedicated to democratic cooperation, striving for equality among all its members. They generally align themselves with the majority's vote while emphasizing the importance of influencing policy by retaining a large population. They believe that genuine change originates from the grassroots level. It also helps their cause that the Unifiers are generally Cryptopia’s policy setters.

Primarily, the Traditional faction aims to provide free education to all citizens of Cryptopia, beginning from a young age. The core principle of this education revolves around comprehending their rights as citizens and respecting the rights of others. They are committed to continuously improving the voting systems and conducting referendums on important national issues. The faction advises workers to establish unions, offering them legal support, and working towards the welfare of their families. Emphasis is placed on encouraging the use of renewable energy to enhance the quality of life, while acknowledging the current reliance on fossil fuels to ensure national stability.

## Opposition: Tech Faction

Their goal is to create a limited expert population of people who contribute to improving the quality of life through the implementation of technological advancements. The Unifiers disagree with this perspective arguing that the Technocrats would use genetic information to control reproduction. This would give the Technocrats complete control over who gets to live in Cryptopia.

## Gameplay Factor

The universal population is the factor that will affect the Traditional faction’s gameplay. The Traditional faction wants to keep the population level high, but the population level doesn’t derive from the number of players at a given time, it rather refers to the total population score of all buildings. Each building will receive a population score, and buildings from the Traditional faction will increase the population score. So the more buildings created by the Traditional faction, the higher the population level.

## Voting

The Unifiers will need to reach level 5 in order to gain the right to vote. The voting power will always be equal to 1 vote, aligning with their belief in a fair democratic system.

## Summary

To sum up, the Traditional faction wants to create a society where everyone wins. This will be achieved through cooperation and mutual support, and that will drive their goals to fruition. If you share the vision of the Unifiers, then let's embark on this journey together and start making progress!

# Industrial

<figure><img src="/files/efcqkNTd79SzoLW3V2bg" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Vision/Belief

Where else can you find an economy brimming with opportunities and generating substantial profits? Cryptopia, a world untethered by restrictive regulations and customs, serves as the ultimate economic haven for the Industrial faction.

The Inheritors, with Peter Nolan as their advisor, have only 1 goal they seek to achieve, and that is maximizing profits by any means necessary. Peter Nolan was given an opportunity by his father to start his own business, he immediately took the opportunity to create his own empire. Though the selections of candidates were many, the Inheritors eventually decided that Peter Nolan was the ideal leader of the Inheritors. He’s got the charisma and perseverance to transform Cryptopia into the Inheritor’s paradise.&#x20;

The goal of the Inheritors is simple and straightforward: to establish a business and investment climate with minimal barriers. In Cryptopia, individuals are empowered to choose the resources they require to build their businesses, ensuring equal opportunities for all to pursue their aspirations. This world provides an ideal environment for laying the groundwork of businesses that may be considered too vast or ahead of their time for conventional countries with their restrictive laws and customs.&#x20;

Driven by their goal of creating a business-friendly environment, are open to collaborating with other factions when absolutely necessary, particularly if it promises profitability. While such cooperation may involve activities that contribute to environmental pollution, the substantial returns on investment outweigh this concern.

## Opposition: Eco Faction

The Eco faction is dedicated to protecting the environment by preserving natural resources, promoting biodiversity, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and mitigating pollution. Their objectives stand in stark contrast to those of the Inheritors, who prioritize profit generation, by allowing Cryptopians to use any means to run their businesses.

## Gameplay Factor

Universal pollution is the factor that will affect the Industrial faction’s gameplay. The Industrial faction wants to keep the pollution level high. The pollution level refers to the total pollution emitted by all buildings. Buildings from the Industrial faction will increase the pollution level.

## Voting

The Inheritors voting power comes from staking TOS. There will be a vesting period when staking TOS in a staking facility. Only after the vesting period will they gain the right to vote. Their voting power is proportional to the amount of TOS staked.

## Summary

In summary, the Industrial faction is driven by a relentless pursuit of victory, aiming to dominate Cryptopia and become the wealthiest and largest faction in the world. They firmly believe that being pioneers and seizing opportunities is the sole path to achieving this goal. So, are you ready to be a winner?

<figure><img src="/files/CR8NVPqHzE9pD924ycCH" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# Eco

<figure><img src="/files/Q3rCZzMMlMqyFWEfDT4W" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Vision/Belief

Is it within reach to establish a functional world that produces absolutely ZERO carbon emissions? The Eco faction holds an affirmative stance on this possibility, and they are persistently working towards creating such a future while simultaneously preserving their local flora and fauna.

The Earth’s Disciples, with John Smith as their advisor, want to make Cryptopia into a carbon emission-free seasteading city-state. John Smith is an enthusiastic environmentalist who studied the impacts of climate change & planet conservation; he also knows the middle ground with businessmen, technology, and people to create a sustainable future. He created the Earth's Disciples to protect this modern Eden, envisioning it as a fresh start.

The Eco faction strives to establish a nation-state that relies exclusively on the cleanest energy sources, including solar, hydro, wind power, and potentially nuclear fusion. They express willingness to endorse fission energy, provided proper safeguards for the disposal of nuclear waste are in place. Additionally, they lend support to scientific research efforts aimed at removing excess CO2 and methane, two gases known for their detrimental impact on the environment, from the atmosphere.

The outcome of these efforts will manifest as a gradual and consistent increase in income, ensuring the well-being and quality of life of all inhabitants of Cryptopia, including all living creatures. The Eco faction will oppose any policies that encourage practices deemed hazardous and harmful to the environment, particularly those centered around the utilization of fossil fuels as energy sources.

## Opposition: Industrial Faction

The Industrial faction wants to maximize profits by any means necessary, and their profit motive results in disregard for the environment which puts them at odds with the Eco faction. The Earth's Disciples believe the Inheritors do not realize that their actions are undermining their own goals. A prosperous society cannot be built without clean air, clear water, and natural resources. In the end, money cannot be eaten.

## Gameplay Factor

Universal pollution is the factor that will affect the Eco faction’s gameplay. The Eco faction wants to keep the pollution level low. The pollution level refers to the total pollution emitted by all buildings. Eco buildings, like nature parks, will absorb the pollution and reduce the pollution level. Buildings from the Eco faction will reduce the pollution level.

## Voting

The Earth’s Disciples will need to reach level 5 to gain their voting right. In synchronization with the Eco faction’s gameplay mechanic, their voting power will come from capturing CO2. The more CO2 they capture, the more voting rights they will have.

## Summary

To conclude, the Eco faction will create a sustainable future powered by renewable energy in pursuit of building a world free of carbon emissions and preserving natural wildlife. The harmony of technology and humans will bring Mother Nature to its highest potential. Do you love her as much as the Eco faction? If so, then let’s get to work!

# Tycoon

### Tycoon path

Build a business empire by claiming land tiles with resources, acquiring Title Deed and Blueprint NFTs, constructing, and harvesting resources, generating electricity, and building production facilities. Defend against saboteurs with Loyalty Cards.

### Claim

Stake your claim on land tiles. Cryptopia has a limited amount of land but potentially unlimited players. This creates scarcity that raises land values over time. The land also contains valuable resources for you to harvest.

<figure><img src="/files/OhYmWGTEuQ2OZSEMQ0TK" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Construct

Tap resources by constructing the right buildings on your land tiles. Resources can be turned into valuable tokens you can trade or use for construction and production. But remember--extraction also becomes slower and more expensive over time.

<figure><img src="/files/dYxVoam967xgt7l41AIa" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Harvest

Say you have claimed a land tile that's rich in coal. To extract it, you must first build a coal mine on the tile. Like all buildings, you must meet the coal mine's material and human resource requirements before it can be constructed.

<figure><img src="/files/V2yctxvfN3IJ5dMZnvVg" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Generate

Burn your Coal tokens in your Power plant to generate electricity, or trade them on the open market. Electricity is an important commodity. Almost everything in Cryptopia uses electricity to run.

<figure><img src="/files/XZOz4k8eQ2eA301xXFo5" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Build an empire

Reach the ultimate goal and build your business empire. Will you own the steel sector? Or do you strategically go for important infrastructure like harbors? You can control parts of the market for business and leisure. But you cannot own it all, so choose carefully!&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/0R88fE1aIqgESwlq6Be8" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# Adventurer

### The free-to-play-and-earn concept

In Cryptopia, the Adventure strategy compliments the [free-to-play-and-earn](/mission-and-vision/free-to-play-and-earn) experience in blockchain gaming. Players take on the role of an adventurer and strive to become the best in their chosen profession, starting at entry-level and advancing through quests and XP. These XPs upgrade their career level and traits, allowing for progress in the game. Sabotaging opponents' factories is another aspect, but it requires higher loyalty, determined by NFT Loyalty Cards.

### Ships

All citizens gain a ship upon joining Cryptopia. Your ship is the primary means of transport and an NFT you can trade. You can use modules to upgrade your vessel's speed and cargo, gain new ships as quest rewards, or buy ships from sellers.

<figure><img src="/files/sirirNsWZ1cMT09iUilx" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Quests

Explore Cryptopia and find the best places to apply your skills. As your abilities grow, so will your wealth and your access to even greater opportunities.

<figure><img src="/files/lO4m3JFdLJQ5v8Bww5e0" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Career

Choose a career that will make their own self unique. An adventurer can provide services to other players in terms of building construction and many more. Adventurers level up and obtain skills by doing quests.

<figure><img src="/files/PbUFo5xkVTVJcYhnJkeX" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# Pirates

<figure><img src="/files/xl96DxlzyiqtVLuOAyoI" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Why should you be a pirate?

Players can explore an exciting virtual world in the blockchain-based metaverse game Cryptopia. The pirate faction, renowned for its cunning and ruthless strategies, is one of the most well-liked factions in the game. In this article, we explore what makes up a pirate faction and the benefits of joining one.

### Who are the pirates?

Pirates in Cryptopia are players who have broken several rules. Attacking another player in the Cryptopian Seas earns a player a negative karma point.

Once enough negative karma has been accumulated, the player is only taken to Treasure Island and given the role of a pirate. It's important to understand that players cannot rejoin their faction after becoming pirates. It is irreversible and entirely present on the blockchain, making it permanent.

### What does the pirate contain?

The pirate faction represents the primary adversary in Cryptopia. One of the main factions of characters that players can interact with in the Crptopia game is the pirate faction. pirates are cunning, rapacious, and perilous individuals constantly searching for treasure and other valuable items to loot. They will do whatever it takes to succeed, frequently attacking other players and robbing them of their resources if given a chance.

When you successfully make a loot as a pirate, you will first receive XPs, and you will then want to secure your loot because it is "hot." A pirate can upgrade their specs the same way a faction player can. They benefit from upgrading their charisma, strength, luck, or speed. They can upgrade their specifications using the XPs.

The farther they move from Treasure Island, the faster the "hot" meter will fall, putting them in a dangerous territory where the bounty hunters can find them. They must move further away from Treasure Island to retain their loot. If they don't move, the "hot" meter will never go down; however, if they move away from Treasure Island, it will go down more quickly. They can move the resources into their wallet if they can avoid every bounty hunter and bring the "hot" meter to zero after a series of moves.

As a player, you can decide whether to join the pirate faction, turn yourself into a pirate, or steer clear of them and guard your loot. You can choose how you'd like to deal with the game's pirates.

### Treasure Island

As Cryptopia City is every faction player's safe haven, Treasure Island is the pirates' Den and their place of refuge. The locations of the resources or treasures are indicated on a separate map for Treasure Island, but the pirates are forbidden from using it. The only players who can use these resources are members of factions.

Pirates have a significantly higher chance of successfully looting the faction players because they are strongest near the treasure's location. pirates will become more exposed and have a greater chance of losing the looted treasure as they get further from Treasure Island and toward Cryptopia City.

<figure><img src="/files/Xq1ZF8CG0oFvjs9dt72R" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### What happens when a pirate confronts a player?

The primary goal of pirates is to steal the resources transported by other players' ships. Once they have looted the resources, they will be "hot," making the resources vulnerable to capture by Bounty Hunters.

However, the player can attempt to bargain with the pirate first to get their resources back. After that, the player can try to bribe the pirate with TOS, Cryptopia’s native token, to leave. The player can retain their resources if the bribe is successful. If the bribe is ineffective and the pirate rejects the bargain, they engage in combat.

The player gets to retain their resources if they prevail in the battle. When the player loses, the pirate loots them successfully. It's crucial to remember that the players' storage is the only place the pirates can steal from, not their wallets.

### Why should you be a pirate?

The players' freedom and flexibility are among the factors that make the pirate faction appealing. The pirate faction allows players to make individual choices and follow their paths, unlike other factions with rigid rules and regulations. As a result, players who join the pirate faction can discover new game worlds, participate in various pursuits, and create alliances with other players to further their objectives.

The potential for great wealth rewards that the pirate faction provides is another factor in its popularity. Players who join the pirate faction can gain additional rewards by completing missions, winning battles against other players, and robbing other ships. These benefits can be exchanged for better benefits by trading with other players, who may use them to upgrade their equipment or buy new items.

When you sign up to be a pirate, you join a group of people who share your interests. You'll be a part of a close-knit group that appreciates freedom and adventure. Together, you'll be able to forge deep ties and rely on one another for support and leadership.

Another justification for being a pirate is the opportunity to transform the world. The pirate faction is constantly looking for new ways to oppose the status quo and extend the bounds of what is feasible. As a member of the pirate faction, you will have the opportunity to participate in this mission and make a meaningful difference in the world.

The chance to fight other players in mighty battles is one of the pirate faction's most thrilling features. To obtain rewards and climb the ranks in the game, players who are a part of the pirate faction can participate in massive battles against rival factions or take part in a one-on-one battle with other players.

What makes a pirate in Cryptopia desirable? The pirate faction is ideal if you're looking for a faction that offers freedom, adaptability, and exciting rewards. The pirate faction is a fantastic way to experience everything that Cryptopia offers with its special skills and opportunities for adventure. So why not sign up for the pirate faction right away and begin your adventure as a fictitious pirate in the fascinating world of Cryptopia?

### How can pirates own property?

We all know that Pirates don’t have the best reputation in society, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be part of it. Choosing to be a pirate by purchasing an Early-Access Pirate Ship or becoming one via gameplay in Cryptopia, is most definitely going to damage your reputation but it doesn’t take away your access to owning property.

Pirates are Cryptopians too, but as the cold-hearted tyrants of the sea, they will not have direct ownership of their property. The right of their property will be under a Trust, whereby a trustee holds the property as its nominal owner for the Pirate. This also means, nobody will ever really know who owns which property, since the possession of it is conducted in this type of shady manner.

# Bounty hunters

<figure><img src="/files/QVkvmjPUUbiLrWYl2uUY" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Who are the Bounty Hunters?

Bounty Hunters are players from any faction who want to receive the bounties that get set by pirate victims. After being looted by a pirate, the victim will be presented with the opportunity to place a bounty. The player will set a bounty on that pirate for a certain amount of TOS. Multiple victims can contribute to the bounty. The amount of TOS needs to be attractive enough for another player to accept the job of hunting that pirate down. This can be considered as a mini quest.

### Story

In a decentralized free market like Cryptopia, the Bounty Hunter faction is the closest thing there is to a police force. Collectively known as the Sea Wolves, these hunters scour the waters near Cryptopia in search of pirates marked as bounties.

Citizens victimized by pirates have only one recourse: obtain the services of a Bounty Hunter and hope that they can find the pirate, win the encounter, and take back the stolen loot. A Sea Wolf doesn’t come cheap, but it’s definitely preferable to losing one’s entire cargo.

At the head of this faction stands one man: James “Wardog” Markham. From a young age, James possessed a strong belief in order and justice. He believes that a working society requires order, and that order needs to be enforced. After completing his studies, James joined the police force, hoping to put his ideas into action. It was a mistake—he soon found himself out of a job when his superior officers found out James wasn’t a “team player” and ratted them out to Internal affairs for corrupt practices.

James then joined a private security group, but even then he didn’t quite feel at home working for rich folk and helping to hide their dirty laundry. After a few years, he left that industry as well. No matter where he went, James found himself adrift; like a ronin from ancient Japan, he was without a master or a purpose, and no reason to use his skills. Even when he was invited to Cryptopia, James found little to attract his interest. None of the factions’ agendas appealed to him. As much as he liked the idea of helping to create a better society, he could not find a way to align himself with their methods and goals.

One day, as James was out sailing, he chanced upon a cargo ship being robbed by pirates. When the pirates sped away, he gave chase and rammed the raiders’ boat from the side. His quick use of superior arms forced the buccaneers to surrender. James returned the stolen loot to the grateful ship captain, who gave him a portion of the cargo. That was when James arrived at an epiphany.

He quickly formed a faction of his own, with himself as its only and absolute leader. Calling themselves the Sea Wolves, their objective was to hunt down pirates and drive them out of business. James didn’t believe in introducing a police force because it was easy to corrupt. By placing the enforcement of order in the free market, there would be no upper echelons, all operators are treated equally, and only a bounty hunter’s skill and persistence guaranteed their success.

James welcomes people like him, who can’t seem to find their place among the factions of Cryptopia, but still wish to perform good deeds for financial rewards. He oversees the training of every new hunter who joins his faction, helping them devise strategies to defeat pirates and acquire their loot. Of course, he also obtains a cut from their income as the faction leader.

James instituted a Bounty Hunter Code, which came down to the following:

* Never steal another hunter’s bounty. Those who do are to be treated as pirates.
* Your mission is your law. Hunt down pirates to retrieve ill-gotten loot and help build a better society by going after the parasites of the city.

The Sea Wolves have a bottom-up approach to dealing with the pirate problem. The pirate factions get rich by taking a share of the loot gathered by the individual pirates. Shutting down these low-level operators will weaken the higher echelons and in time will make them easier to take down.

Lately, James has become aware that the pirates have other designs in Cryptopia apart from looting its ships, and has spent much of his time investigating their various agendas. He has sent spies out to some pirate factions to dig up more dirt in hopes of eventually convincing the Cryptopia leaders to devise some form of collective action to stop the pirate factions’ plans.

Though James works tirelessly to thwart the pirate factions, even he doesn’t want them completely gone. He understands that without the pirates there would be no Sea Wolves, and he would be back to being a drifter. Thankfully, the pirate factions are willing to put up a fight. For as long as they do, James Markham and the Sea Wolves have something to hunt.

# Companions

TAKE YOUR CHANCE AND CAPTURE THEM

<figure><img src="/files/o63riB3A3phAztH6IoSi" alt="" width="563"><figcaption><p>From right to left: Common, Rare, and Legendary companion NFTs</p></figcaption></figure>

### CAPTURE

Are you feeling lucky? Try your hand at capturing a creature to be your companion.

As you wander Cryptopia, you will encounter various creatures that can be your pets—provided you have capture cards and the skills to use them.

<figure><img src="/files/m2X87n3yWLf6jOolPbcr" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### TAKE THEM TO THE ARENA

Does your companion have what it takes to be the champ? Have them clash with other players’ creatures for fun and profit. Strategy and your companion’s stats (Attack, Defense, Speed, and Health) will spell either victory or defeat.<br>

<figure><img src="/files/7I8KKRjcofoEJZ8MSG5e" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# Crafting

### CRAFT VALUABLE TOOLS

Crafting is one of the highest, most in-demand skills in Cryptopia. Only players that have achieved the Grandmaster level can craft exclusive items that will fetch a high price on the market.

<figure><img src="/files/49PZK2WU7ajyNwkIEppQ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Career

Grind your way to ultimately becoming a GRANDMASTER to craft (unique) items that are not available through any other means. As a result, other players will be interested in trading valuable assets for your items.

# Marketplace

BLOCKCHAIN MADE EASY FOR EVERYONE

<figure><img src="/files/PdWmBPAlpvXkUPKqL3cV" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Fungible and Non-Fungible Assets

Cryptopia has fungible and non fungible assets that are represented by tokens. These tokens can be traded as follows:

* The fungible tokens can be swapped at any time at the Swap Marketplace.
* The non-fungible tokens (NFT) can be put up for sale at the NFT Marketplace, or can be sold via third party NFT auctions like OpenSea.

Fungible and non-fungible assets are represented by tokens, which can be traded in three ways:

### Swap Marketplace

<figure><img src="/files/B8jkeHmFRURqZfTDaIzZ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The fungible tokens can be swapped at any time at the Swap Marketplace. The trading engine will maintain prices for all-natural resources, materials, and products to CRT based on market supply and demand. If, for example, you want to swap iron ore for glass, it takes the price from iron ore to CRT and the price of glass to CRT and calculates the going ‘conversion rate’ for this swap.

* No risk for arbitrage since all prizes are calculated in CRT.
* No gas fees
* No frontrunning (‘jumping the line’ of people who want to buy a certain item by offering a higher transaction fee).
* All swaps are treated in a first-come, first-serve manner.

### NFT Marketplace

<figure><img src="/files/qoYLjRYWcOAzeX0jrc4o" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The non-fungible tokens (NFT) can be put up for sale at the NFT Marketplace.&#x20;

* The seller can choose among three pricing options: a ‘regular’ auction, a fixed price, or a Dutch auction.
* Bids can be placed in CRT. Actual sales will only take place once the seller agrees with the price offered.
* You can continue to use the assets in Cryptopia World while you are waiting for a buyer to offer the right price.

### External Marketplaces

The non-fungible tokens can be sold via third-party NFT auctions like OpenSea. As there will be a bridge, NFT tokens may be traded at specialized 3rd party exchanges on the Ethereum blockchain, like OpenSea. A description will be available so people know exactly what in-game asset the token represents. Once the buyer uploads the newly acquired token in his/ her game wallet, it can be used in Cryptopia World.

# What is Cryptos (TOS)?

## TOS is Cryptopia's Native Token and its In-Game Currency

<figure><img src="/files/xRkoc9kdJR4DXRTqn7wI" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

All fungible and non-fungible assets such as coal, wood, gold, electricity, title deeds, modules, and blueprints—just to name a few—are denominated in TOS. Using a single native token as the in-game currency can help create a more unified and stable economy within the game and makes it easier for players to trade and exchange items with one another, as they all have a common denomination.

# Tokenomics

<figure><img src="/files/n61JZ6tEUGnIIl9AuzXX" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Supply

The supply of TOS is capped at 10 billion. There will never be more TOS than this amount\*. The game slowly releases the tokens as quest rewards. Players are stimulated to re-invest their earnings to increase their potential. We anticipate that demand steadily rises as more players want to progress.

### The Supply of TOS is Distributed for 7 Different Purposes

1. **In-Game**: 25% (2.5 billion TOS) is locked in the game, waiting to be claimed by players. It can be earned by completing certain objectives and can be used to purchase in-game items or traded on the open market. It is also used to support the in-game economy.
2. **Liquidity Pools**: 10% (1 billion TOS) is reserved for exchanges (CEX & DEX) to facilitate the trading of TOS.
3. **Investors**: 23% (2.3 billion TOS) is being sold to investors. 19% in private sales and 4% in public sales.
4. **Partnerships**: 5% (500 million TOS) is reserved for partnerships. These tokens can be used for promotions and airdrops in other communities to increase the adoption and usage of the TOS token.
5. **Company Treasury**: 26% (2.8 billion TOS) is reserved for the company treasury. This allocation will be used to support the company's operations, pay for expenses, and to fund future development plans.
6. **Marketing:** 5% (500 million TOS) is used for marketing purposes. Ranging from affiliate rewards to sponsored articles, these tokens serve one purpose only: get Cryptopia out there.
7. **Airdrops**: 6% (600 million TOS) goes to engaged community members. TOS goes to Frontier Ships, guilds, and testnet players.

## Circulating Supply

The circulating supply is difficult to predict. The tokens held by investors and the team are subject to a vesting scheme of 24+ months. If and when these tokens will be available is yet to be seen.

Another factor for the size of the circulating supply is the rate by which the 25% in-game rewards are earned and held. We, of course, believe that Cryptopia offers plenty of gameplay and fun. This is why we have confidence in a healthy [in-game economy](/mission-and-vision/sustainable-economy) and fitting circulating supply.

## Use of Funds

The proceeds of the private and public sale will further fuel the development of Cryptopia. Prior to the sales, the team self-funded the development for more than two years.

### 1. Economic Transactions

* **In-Game Currency:** TOS is the default currency players use to pay for items and services within the game. Examples include buying basic blueprints and other items, paying workers (construction workers for building projects, factory workers for resource refinement and item creation), and paying for game services like increased marketplace visibility or community verification.
* **Labor Compensation:** Players are both the payers and recipients of TOS in diverse labor roles. For example, a player might employ construction workers by paying them in TOS to speed up building construction. Similarly, factory owners can pay factory workers in TOS to operate machinery for resource refinement (ERC-20) or item production (ERC-721). This dynamic balance nurtures an equitable in-game labor economy.
* **Auctions and Bidding on Marketplace:** Engage in competitive bidding and auctions using TOS to secure valuable items and resources.

<figure><img src="/files/xp6yZbMuorSSNVjNVwx9" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### 2. Governance and Moderation

* **In-Game Staking:** Required for participation in critical governance and moderation functions, staking of TOS takes place within specific in-game buildings.
* **Courts:** For resolving disputes, such as username appropriateness, a token-backed mechanism led by elected moderators or an organized court session handles the deliberation. This involves staking TOS as a security deposit from both parties.
* **Oracles:** Players can stake TOS to verify personal data like age or location. Verification includes social media-based tasks that further bolster community trust.

### 3. Tax Mechanism

* **Tax Allocation:** Cryptopia's tax system plays a vital role in sustaining the game's ecosystem. A portion of the TOS spent in various in-game activities is directed into the treasury. These funds are crucial for the game's longevity as they are allocated for quest rewards, community initiatives, and other incentives that keep players engaged.

<figure><img src="/files/hbCa9aCmSiJpw9SdZGFO" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Examples

**Labor Compensation:** When a player pays TOS to employ a construction worker, a percentage of that payment is taxed and directed into the treasury.

**Social Post Mechanism:** If a user spends TOS to boost the visibility of their social post, a small portion is taxed and contributed to the treasury.

**Advertising:** When players spend TOS to secure advertising spaces, a share of that payment is taxed into the treasury.

The diversified sources of tax, from labor payments to social interactions and advertising, create a well-balanced and healthy game economy, ensuring a rewarding and sustainable experience for all players.

### 4. Community and Social Engagement

* **Membership Tiers:** Access to privileged game features and social circles comes with holding specific amounts of TOS.

### Social Post Mechanism

**Visibility Boost:** Users can spend TOS to enhance the visibility of their posts.

**User Rewards:** Other users can reward quality content by sending TOS, making these tokens act similarly to 'likes' but with greater value.

**Trending Post Advertisements:** Authors of trending posts can host ads paid for in TOS. The major share goes to the author, while a smaller part is taxed into the treasury.

### 5. Virtual Real Estate and Advertising

* **Virtual Real Estate:** Leverage TOS to rent high-value advertising spaces on key structures within Cryptopia, like skyscrapers, enhancing your in-game influence.

### 6. Game-Centric Uses

* **Cooldown and Crafting Times:** Players can use TOS to shorten cooldown and crafting times. Players can instantly nullify crafting times by spending TOS or benefit from reduced crafting intervals by holding TOS in their accounts.
* **Skill and Character Upgrades:** Use TOS to purchase advanced skills or character enhancements, including learning new recipes.
* I**tem Enhancement and Repair:** Utilize TOS to enhance or repair in-game items like tools, ships, and wearables. Players with the appropriate skillset can perform repairs without cost and earn TOS by repairing items for others. Ships can be repaired in docks for a TOS fee.
* **Guild Formation:** The game charges a TOS fee for guild formation. Once formed, the guild operates as a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) with its own governance token.

# Unique experiment

Cryptopia is a game that integrates blockchain technology in an unprecedented way. It is a unique experiment. In 2019, Frank Bonnet, our founder and lead developer, started working on his idea of a game that runs 100% on the blockchain: a game with the whole game state on the blockchain. This has never been done before.&#x20;

### When will the game be finished?

The game will be ready when everything on the roadmap has been cleared. When the game runs stable on the testnet for a good amount of time. But also when we have taken care of the wishes of our community.

We want our community to play the game they like. So, their opinion really matters. If we see that the community wants an addition to the game, we can add this. Take the recent example of [pirates](https://www.reddit.com/r/Cryptopia_Official/comments/uc3r1w/treasure_island_the_pirates_den_in_cryptopia/). Of course, all within the boundaries of the story, lore, and gameplay.

So, when we have built everything on our roadmap, in agreement with our community, we can start moving the game from testnet to mainnet. Once that is complete, the game will be finished.

# Public roadmap

Our roadmap is a living document and is changing often. We decided to publish our roadmap via a project management tool to make it easy to communicate changes and report on progress.&#x20;

The roadmap is displayed on a Kanban board. The cards represent features and milestones.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/OleqURrtuaaEqoJHjJET" alt=""><figcaption><p>Cards represent features and milestones</p></figcaption></figure>

Each card is clickable and contains further details.

# Multisig wallet

<figure><img src="/files/Qzmasyhne48OlNt3o8P9" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Cryptopia introduces a revolutionary wallet embedded within the game engine, prioritizing security and convenience. The built-in and stand-alone Cryptopia wallet enables users to own a single wallet with multiple devices, providing added security measures comparable to two-factor authentication (2FA). This approach minimizes the risk of losing all assets if one device is compromised. Moreover, users can co-own a wallet with other players, fostering partnerships and shared ownership.

It allows you to own one wallet with multiple devices. It gives you 2FA. It means you don't lose everything when one device is compromised because the chances of both devices getting compromised are much smaller. You can also own a wallet with multiple players. You and your life partner could even co-own a wallet. The Cryptopia wallet is the first ever built inside a game engine that allows for frictionless blockchain gaming.

Cryptopia delivers a strategy where people won't need to buy crypto. We sell the game to you for a dollar. You get $1.00 worth of gas in your account to start with. Because it's [free-to-play-and-earn](/mission-and-vision/free-to-play-and-earn), you start earning. And some of those earnings are allocated for gas. So you won't have to deposit crypto to pay gas fees ever. That makes it [frictionless](/mission-and-vision/blockchain-games-are-complex). You download the game, start playing like a regular game, and don't need anything else. Behind the scenes, the game signs transactions for you, submits them to the blockchain, and waits until they are complete.

# P2P mesh network

Cryptopia is [100% decentralized](/mission-and-vision/100-decentralized) without central servers. The complete game state is on the blockchain. Less critical processes are handled peer-to-peer via meshes. The mesh network consists of 10,000 nodes. Every node is a device that handles networking traffic for Cryptopia.

In the first stage, the nodes will handle real-time positioning. In the second stage, we plan to allow nodes to perform transactions. If a transaction is not urgent, a player has the option to submit the transaction to the node network (instead of the blockchain) to lower the gas fees. The transaction is then executed when the gas fee is lucrative for node operators. The transaction functionality also opens up possibilities for player organizations like guilds to offset the fees for their players. Imagine a guild that wants to onboard new players. They can cover the gas fees for a limited period of time. This allows new players to play the game without having to worry about the fees.

In the third and last stage, Cryptopia allows other projects on its network. Blockchain projects that want to be decentralized can reach 100% decentralization via our network. Node operators can opt-in to facilitate these projects.
