Play-for-fun comes first
Blockchain gaming took off fast at the end of 2021 and continued to grow in 2022. This rise in popularity surfaced some design flaws in the blockchain game genre. The most notable ones are play-to-earn (P2E) games that are not fun to play and the fact that not everyone can earn.
If your game isn't fun, nobody will play. However, the Introduction of the earn component changed this: people will still play a game that isn't fun. But not for long. When the monetary return does not match the player's expectation, there is no reason to stay. Players will extract the value that is left and move on. Managing the value stream becomes essential.
